An array of services tailored to meet the needs of couples and families are available at The Helping Heart Counseling Center including pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling, divorce recovery, blended family sessions and family counseling. Sessions typically run from 1 to 2 hours in length on a weekly basis. As a marriage and family therapist, The Helping Heart acknowledges that when one member of a family is hurting it often affects those around that individual. As a result, clients are encouraged to include family members and other supportive individuals in the therapy process.
Marital Intensives are designed for couples that desire a more intimate relationship with their spouse. Unlike traditional therapy that typically consists of weekly one-hour sessions, marital intensives allow couples to experience sessions that are longer in length and incorporate approximately a year's worth of therapy in just a few days. Couples will participate in 2 to 4 private sessions followed by 3-4 days of group process. Private marital intensives are available for couples that desire a personal and customized experience. To inquire about attending a marital intensive please contact Twilla Woolsey at (806) 570-2758 or email Twilla@TwillaWoolsey.com.
Individual therapy sessions are available for older adolescents and adults. Services provided to individuals might include trauma counseling, exploration of family of origin, balancing work and family, career exploration, depression, anxiety, and relational struggles, as well as many other possibilities.
Is your congregation, organization or community looking for a guest speaker for a workshop or special event? All therapists at the Helping Heart are experienced public speakers and available for special presentations including women's & couple ministries, marital retreats, youth groups, school districts, and corporate trainings. A list of topics available for presentations can be made available or a presentation can be customized for a specific event.
EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. Using bilateral stimulation of the brain through eye movement, tapping, sound, or other bilateral movements a client is guided through a series of steps while focusing on a specific thought or memory. Benefits of EMDR can include treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), help reduce anxiety or depression, and may improve coping mechanisms and resilience.
Sometimes life gets complicated... an employee dies while on the job, a long time employer dies from a terminal illness, a tragic car accident takes the life of a young person... an unexpected trauma occurs. As an employer, school administrator or pastor, times of trauma can be paralyzing for an organization. As a trained EMDR therapist, Twilla Woolsey can offer support during this traumatic time of need. Services can be offered on location and can include executive consultation, facilitation of trauma debriefing, and follow-up services. Taking care of students and employees during a traumatic event can help individuals grieve their losses while preparing them for life after the trauma.
