Lindsey Wesley is a licensed professional counselor. She was born and raised in the Texas Panhandle. She grew up in Canyon, Texas and graduated from Canyon High School. Lindsey realized how important counseling was from an early age. On Career Days, she took the opportunity to observe at the Youth Center of the High Plains. The experience there fostered her desire to become a counselor and instilled in her a sense of purpose. Lindsey credits an amazing mentor who guided her as she discovered clarity in her calling. Her passion for counseling was deepened when she worked at a children's shelter during college. Through independent studies and serving as a research assistant at Baylor University, she was able to gain an academic understanding of counseling theories and practices. During this time, she learned the methods and techniques associated with ABA therapy (Applied Behavioral Analysis) for children with autism. Lindsey received her B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University in 2006. She began her masters degree at Texas A&M University while serving the Bryan/College Station community as a special education teacher. Upon returning to the panhandle, she received her M.Ed. in Counseling from West Texas A&M University. She continued to serve in the school system and feels fortunate to have built relationships with many children and families in the Amarillo community. She volunteered as a youth leader at City Church for 6 years and currently works with youth at Harvest Connexion Church. Lindsey is thankful for all of the families that have shared their journey so openly and freely with her. She expresses that her life has been enriched beyond words due to their willingness to open up and allow her to work with their families. It affirmed in her the confidence to pursue a career in counseling.
Lindsey is committed to helping young people make sense of the world around them. She enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, special needs populations, couples preparing for marriage, school districts, and community entities. She strives to help individuals feel empowered as they work to accomplish their personal and therapeutic goals.
In her free time, you find her enjoying her friends and family. She has a multitude of family members that are involved in her life in addition to a network of dear friends she considers family. She loves her church home and is eager to serve in any capacity. Lindsey is inspired by games and competition and views every day as a good day for friendly competition. She feels that she is never too old to build a tent in the living room and enjoy "tent movie day" with her husband and kids. She enjoys any outdoor activities and is an avid sports fan. Lindsey is fascinated by all that this world has to offer and loves to travel. She hopes to visit many places during her lifetime. Lindsey loves life and all who celebrate life with her.
Lindsey is so appreciative of the opportunity to serve The Helping Heart and the Amarillo community as a counselor.
